"Woman of the Year" Nominee Pledges to Raise $250,000 to Fight Cancer (the Price of a Year of Chemo)

"Those who are fighting cancer must know that we are fighting like hell right alongside them. We are fighting to create a future where cancer is non-life threatening and treatable in every sense of the word." According to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, approximately every 3 minutes one person in the United States is diagnosed with a blood cancer. Another grim statistic: an estimated combined total of 176,200 people in the US are expected to be diagnosed with leukemia, lymphoma or myeloma in 2019. Fortunately amazing people, like my dear friend Paria Sadighi, are doing their part to end cancer. Nominated "Woman of the Year," she has pledged to raise $250,000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. In an Instagram post she explains the reason behind the $250,000 pledge. "That's what it would have cost for a year of chemo for my mom. That is what ultimately saved my mom's life. But we didn't have $250,000. My mom didn't have insurance. That's the amount that an organization like LLS helped secure for us so that we wouldn't have to choose between my mom living or my mom dying. Because that dollar amount would have bankrupted us and left us homeless." To donate, visit Paria's Woman of the Year fundraising Page. Your donation is tax deductible and can save life.
